ICENI Centre Schools Programme

Children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way ’ are the opening lyrics to Whitney Houston’s 2007 remake of iconic song Greatest Love of All.  The intro aptly reflects today’s sentiment behind the ICENI Centre’s Schools Masterclass Programmes – as the next generation are the future of the NHS!

The East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust, employs over 10,000 people within North Essex and Suffolk, covering over 300 different career pathways!

The programme aims to inspire young students (Year 9 and up) to think about a career in healthcare and give them goals to aim for at the most important time in their education.  Students attending  the Centre learn direct from our medical health professionals and receive demonstrations highlighting the roles and responsibilities of a range of jobs, both clinical and non-clinical.

More importantly, student not only listen to the healthcare experts but get the opportunity to try their hand at some of their educators everyday tasks –  all carried out in the safe environment at the Centre.

Our upcoming programme in 2022 includes: 2 hour workshops in Innovation within the NHS and  Ophthalmology; six masterclass sessions in Allied Health Professional roles and a Careers Day for Year 11/12 students.
