A New Dawn for Endovascular Training at the ICENI Centre
The ICENI Centre took delivery of the Mentice 7 in March this year – a high-fidelity endovascular simulator, launched on the market in 2020 – and a curriculum of courses from foundation year students up to consultant level, using the latest technology, has commenced.
Vascular trainees in the East of England welcomed the unique experience of honing new skills on a ‘state of the art’ virtual reality simulator, whilst attending a training day at the Centre in July.
Adam Howard, Vascular Consultant and faculty on the ‘3rd Peripheral Endovascular Course’ believes this level of training for young doctors is essential as endovascular procedures are one of the fastest growing areas in clinical therapeutics.
These facilities are not widely available in the UK and demonstrates the East Suffolk and North Essex Trust’s commitment to supporting first class training for regional trainees and clinicians nationally.
